What Happened to the Short Story?
Abstract
I said to the editor, Laurie Hergenhan, that there should be a section on the short story because it was the growth area of Australian writing. When he said yes, I became afraid that I'd been simply proselytizing and for my loose talk I made myself look at the statistics of the short story over the last twenty-five years.
