Some Developments in Short Fiction, 1969-1980

Abstract

Discusses contemporary short fiction by writers including Murray Bail, Peter Cowan, Hal Porter, Michael Wilding and Frank Moorhouse, who transformed a genre most readily associated with the Bulletin school. These writers 'produced work which restored the independence of the short story as an art with conventions and possibilities of its own'.
