Kerry Reed-Gilbert

Kerry Reed-Gilbert is a Wiradjuri writer, multi-disciplinary artist and activist. She has published two collections of poetry, Black Woman, Black Life (1996) and Talkin’ About Country (2002). Her poetry and prose have been published in journals and anthologies nationally and internationally, including in the Macquarie PEN Anthology of Australian Literature. In 2013 she co-edited a collection of works with the US Mob Writing group By Close of Business and was co-editor for the Ora Nui Journal, a collaborative collection between First Nations Australia writers and Maori writers. Her work has been translated in French, Korean, Bengali, Dutch and other non-English speaking languages. She is currently working on her memoir. She is also a landscape photographer with her works held in private and public collections such as the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies (AIATSIS) and Parliament House. She also works in lino printing and ceramic pottery and her work has been accepted into exhibitions. Kerry is the Chair of FNAWN (the First Nations Australia Writers Network) and a former member of the Aboriginal Studies Press Advisory Committee.
