The Historical Source for Ada Cambridge’s ‘The Camp’
Abstract
It is still commonly assumed that Ada Cambridge's descriptions of 'the Camp' in Thirty Years in Australia, A Marked Man and Fidelis refer to Curlew Camp, set up by Arthur Streeton and Tom Roberts between 1890-91 in Sirius Cove, Mosman. (This camp continued to be used until 1910, although Streeton was gone by 1895, and Roberts left it in 1896 when he married Elizabeth Williamson.)
