The Australian Career of John Lang, Novelist
Abstract
John Lang, the first Australian-born novelist, has been the subject of recent articles by Dr Colin Roderick and Mr John Earnshaw. The aim of this note is to draw attention to a paragraph in a contemporary newspaper which practically confirms Lang's authorship of the Legends of Australia, and also to supplement previous discussions of Lang's abrupt departure from Australia in 1842.
