Review of The Poet Militant: Bernard O'Dowd by Hugh Anderson; and Christopher Brennan: Some Recollections by Richard Pennington
Abstract
Hugh Anderson's sympathetic study of O'Dowd is a useful introduction to his life and work, suggesting new directions of critical and biographical interest. Richard Pennington's book on Brennan is an amplification of notes in which he recorded literary conversations at the Sydney socialite homes to which one or two of Brennan's friends invited him in the desperate years following the death of Vie and his dismissal from Sydney University.
