Review of Austral-Asian Encounters: From Literature and Women 's Studies to Politics and Tourism, edited by Cynthia vanden Driesen and Satendra Nandan
Abstract
Austral-Asian Encounters is a collection of papers presented at the Second International Asian-Australasian Association for the Study of Australasia (AASA, formerly The Asian Association for the Study of Australia) Conference, Mysore 2000. As the title suggests, this volume covers a range of disciplines, though many papers are comparative examinations of Indian and Australian literary texts, while the focus on cross-cultural interactions is confined to those 'encounters' between India and Australia and India and New Zealand.
