Review of The Oxford Literary Guide to Australia, general editor Peter Pierce, assistant editor Rosemary Hunter, and twelve associates
Abstract
This is a very substantial book, well made, well printed, with a good library binding, extensively researched. In appearance it is attractive and inviting, and has the look of a solid work of reference. It will assuredly grace the library shelves. How often it will be brought down from them, and what real utility it will have when it is, I wonder a little. Certainly a vast amount of work has gone into it. What I am unsure about is, how much useful work will come out of it. But I am an old stager; I had better not attempt to adjudicate the New Approaches.
