Henry Kingsley, and the ‘Dear Old Station’: The ‘Baroona’ of Geoffry Hamlyn?

Abstract

Where did Henry Kingsley work or get acquainted with cattle while he was in Australia? The question arises from a close look at one of Kingsley's watercolours held by the Mitchell Library, Sydney. It is endorsed: 'The dear old station. I will give no description lest I grow sentimental.'
