Centre of Fierceness: Francis Webb’s Vision of the Artist

Abstract

The recent death of Francis Webb has left a body of work that is unique in circumstance, stature, and conception in Australian poetry. There are many avenues open to the person eager to plumb the depths of this magnificent talent, but the most central and comprehensive view of the poetry lies in an examination of Webb's conception of the role of the creative artist, and the relationship of the artist to his art.
